Happy New Year everyone and I hope you enjoyed the holiday season. 2009 was a great year all in all and hopefully 2010 will be even better. Here are a few predictions for this year.
1) The Peterborough Petes will make a trade this week heading towards the OHL deadline to make deals. What they will trade for is anyone's guess but I always say you can never have enough defensmen. They could also handle an extra heaveyweight if there are any out there....Look for the Petes to win at least one round in the play-offs and perhaps an upset in the second round.
2) Peterborough Lakers will take another good run at the OLA title and beat Brampton in 7 games. They will then go on to host the Mann Cup which will also go 7 games. The Lakers victory parade will actually leave the Memorial Centre and head north up George St. just to shake things up a bit in this town.
3) A Inter County baseball team or a semi professional team will set up shop in town and play out of Riverside Park. They will be known as the Peterborough Pirates and be ready to play in time for the 2011 season.
4) A Tim Horton's will open on the old Rock Haven property beside the new Shopper Drug Mart. Can never have enough of those. Also look for a new Timmy's in downtown Peterborough perhaps in around Peterborough Square.
5) The prime minister will show up for the big United Way Hockey Challenge and drop the puck. He will then head out after the game to catch some live tunes at the Red Dog.
More to come on Tuesday. If you have any predictions send them along to pete@kruzfm.ca
