John and Yoko's "Happy Christmas" is one of those songs I've just gotta hear on Christmas Eve. For 3 minutes and 28 seconds, it makes me stop and escape all the hustle...the bustle...and stress that we all feel in the days leading up to the big day.
They sing about sharing time with family and friends. And, I look back at all the fun celebrations and "socials" we've had over the past few weeks. But, there's nothing I look forward to more about Christmas than spending time with Lisa, Emily and Madeline in the comfort of our home. In fact, we have a long-standing tradition in our family. Christmas Day is also Pyjama Day. The rules are pretty simple - - Everybody stays in their pyjamas for the day. Nobody leaves the house. Eat. Sleep. Play.
If only we could incorporate more of those days into our busy lives.
John and Yoko also sing about peace on earth and goodwill towards all. It makes us stop and realize how fortunate we are to celebrate the way we do...to live a life that others can't even dream about.
"Another year over...and a new one just begun". A time to reflect on the year that was...and to look ahead to the next 12 months - - hoping that our goals will be achieved...and our dreams fulfilled.
Happy Christmas, my friend.
