9th Annual KPP Foundation ‘making a difference’ Charity Golf Tournament
is just around the corner! Funds raised from this fabulous event will go toward enhancing the lives of people living with physical disabilities by helping to buy or repair the many assistive devices - like electric wheelchairs and mechanical lifts.
This year’s tournament will take place on Wednesday, June 17th, 2009 at the Black Diamond Golf Club. As always we look forward to a memorable and fun occasion for more than 100 golfers. At this year’s event, we will be featuring the following:

Ennismore Bike Rodeo
This free family event is set for Saturday, June 6th inside at the Ennismore Arena from 9 to 1. Pre-registration is preferred at www.MusicForMoppets.ca/RODEO. Test your skills, knowledge of hand signals and rules of the road and have a super Saturday too. Helmets are mandatory and bikes should be in good working condition. Trike area for the really new riders is sure to be a hit again this year. Newer riders with training wheels are most welcome too. BBQ and snacks available to support the Kawartha Youth for Christ. This event is sponsored by Causeway Christian Assembly, Music For Moppets, Ennismore Optimists Club, O.P.P. and many other community partners. Last year prizes included a new bike courtesy of Canadian Tire and all participants got a new bike helmet thanks to Seven Star Sports. Lakefield Health Fair
On June 6, 2009 at the Lakefield Legion (10 Nicholls Street, Lakefield) between 10 am and 3 pm. It's a great opportunity to meet over 25 health care professionals, have your blood pressure monitored, win a door prize, enjoy lunch and support the services of Community Care, the Alzheimer's Society and Extendicare Lakefield Family Council. The Annual Kawartha Kids Ride Poker run
June 6, 2009. Registration takes place at the Captain's Restaurant, hwy 35 south of Lindsay from 9:00 til 10:30 followed by a parade through town and then the Poker Run. Cost is $ 20.00 per person and we also have overnight camping for $ 20.00 and a dance later that evening, cost for non riders for the dance is $ 10.00. The Poker Run starts at Captain's Restaurant and ends at the Lindsay Rugby Club (the old Wagon Wheel). Maps of route and Poker stops will be given out at Registration. The event will be held on June 6th with a parade at 10:00, soap box derby on Dunn Street at noon. Vintage cars will be displayed at Kawartha Settlers Village.
There will be an Artisans Way, Remax Hot Air Balloon rides, Kayak Races, Fashion Show, Marine Modelers and Two Great Cruises.
Country Cruise on Friday June 5 with the Larry Mac Donald Band And the Blues Cruise on Saturday June 6th with Kenny Brown and the Prevaders.

Green Home and Garden Tour
Saturday, June 6, 2009, 10 am to 4 pm for Peterborough and Lakefield Homeowners.
You can get all of your green energy and gardening questions answered by local homeowners who are putting to practice many unique green ideas.
The tour consists of 9 stops throughout the city of Peterborough and village of Lakefield. The homeowners at each stop have either changed their lifestyle to become more environmentally conscious, switched to renewable sources of energy such as solar or geothermal or have gardens that are grown pesticide free.
Tour passports are $10 and available at the Peterborough Green-Up Office, 378 Aylmer St., Avant Garden Shop, 165 Sherbrooke St, Gardens Plus, 136 County Road 4, Donwood and Happenstance Books, 44 Queen St, Lakefield. All funds raised to go Peterborough Green-Up’s environmental programs.

The Lakefield M&M's is Celebrating it's 5th Anniversary with an Anniversary Sale & Charity BBQ on SaturdayJune 6, from 11-4pm.
All proceeds from this BBq will go to the Lakefield YMCA which provides programming for children ages 1-12yrs. Fiddler/Step dancers will be there as well to entertain throughout the day.

It is that time of year again and once more LInda Martinell will be dying her hair PINK to raise funds for the fight against Breast Cancer. She will be at the market on Sat. June 6 from 7 till 1 collecting funds and dying my hair. People are welcome to help apply colour for a donation and she will just a chance on how it looks when I am finished. If you can't make it to the market, she will be happy to take any donations at Scotiabank 111 Hunter St.Remember, these races take place in OUR community and ALL funds
